Mudbug Time

Crawish Time 2010

So this is the time of year we have tons and tons of crawfish.  It was no different this year except we had the kids and it was Riley's first experience with the mudbugs.  I think she enjoyed playing with them more than eating them.  Abby enjoyed the crawfish but thought they were a little too spicy.  All in all it was a great day with friends and family while we enjoyed everything.  Even Miller came up from Baytown for the festivities.

We hit OIL!!!

Well Good Friday was Tracy and I's day off to take the kids to H-town. We had thought about going to the zoo or wandering downtown area and then coming back later that day. So the day starts off as planned....we get in the car and start driving to Houston. We decided to call Denise to see what they were up to because we thought Austin and Riley should get to see their cousins at some point...turns out they were on their way up to Hockley for the OIL Ranch's Easter Day. Plans got changed and we went there to meet up with them.

This was a great day. It was the perfect place for Abby because she could run and be as loud as she wanted. Austin and Riley got to see Katie and Alex. They also all made new friends as there was another family there. There was horse riding, petting zoo fun, hay rides, swings, food, fun and family.

Do I want drink or snack...drink or snack...that is the question!!!

I will get Daddy off the 'bull'

They seem like they are up to something

As they day went on, Abby made a new friend in Molly.  Molly is a little bit older than Abby but they were best buds by the end of the day.

Together Again

We finally have the family together again!  It is Austin and Riley's spring break and they have come to visit for the week.  Tonight we joined the Crocker-Garza family for sushi (Austin LOVES it) and then went back to the house for some street play.

It is amazing how much the kids have grown. We just saw Austin and Riley a couple of months ago but I feel like Riley has grown so much. Grandma Joyce had bought them both similar outfits so I felt the need to dress them in it so they 'matched' :).

We have so much planned for the week including going to Houston on Friday and having our annual crawfish boil on Saturday.

Where's Abby's tongue?

It was such a beautiful week earlier this past week.  Abby went to the play park with her daddy or daaaadeeeee as she likes to say.  As you can tell from the picture, she takes after her mom with pictures and likes to make silly faces!  She loves the park and anything that has steps and a slide.  She is such a little daredevil and is not timid at all about these things...I am not quite sure if that is a good thing yet or not :).

On Friday, we went to the mall to let her play in the play area there after we went and bought Tracy some new shoes.  She went up the stairs all by herself and slid down the twirly slide over and over and over....all without our help.  She sometimes came down face first, feet first, flipping down, on her side and she loved every minute of it!

First Day of School

My little sweetpea started her first day of daycare last week.  She screamed when we left which broke my heart.  All the kids just gathered round her and looked at her like she was the new toy!  I was 'that' mom.  I called the daycare twice that day to check on her.  It turns out like everyone else that has watched her, she quit crying almost immediately after we left.  She ate great and slept wonderful.

Each day when we dropped her off she would cry and Ms Frances (her teacher) said that she would quit soon after we left.  Each day when we picked her up, she would be fine until she saw us and then she would start crying and reaching for us.  Little booger.  At the end of her week we got all her artwork.  She finger painted, played with glitter, colored, did a cottonball art project and lots of other new things.  My baby is growing up.

Now everyone told me she would get sick starting daycare, but I didn't expect for her to miss her 2nd week of daycare due to sickness.  The doctor thinks the congestion she had the last few weeks has settled into her ear and she has her first ear infection with fever.  To make matters worse I ended up getting the crud and missing work the past two days.  Abby and I make a good sick pair :)!

Armadillo Dash

Today I completed my first ever 1/2 marathon.  Yes, I ran 13.1 miles.  I was kind of slow compared to a lot of people I know.  I finished in 2 hours 20 minutes.  This is about 11 minute miles....but I did it!  Next Sunday we have a 1/2 marathon in Dallas.  Wish me luck.

Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow

I am stealing a post from Jamie (sorry Jamie).  At the end of February, Abby ended her time with Jamie & Alex.  We knew it was coming and had been planned from the beginning, but it didn't make it any easier.  I know Abby is going to miss her BFF every day.  I am sure they will get together often to play.  It is weird not seeing Jamie either.

Here is a picture from when Abby and Alex first started their time together.  Abby was 6 weeks old.

They were dressed in their outfits Nomi got them!

This was a couple days after they started.  Abby was being Alex's snack!  They were wearing their little Gymboree outfits!

This was by far one of my favorite pictures Jamie ever took of the girls.  It was right before Halloween and they were staring at something but it looks like they are scared!

Jamie loves to take pictures and that is just one of the many things I will miss about Abby being with her.  This is one of her photo shoot days about when Abby was 3 months old.

Above is Alex & Abby's last day together.  Abby is looking at Alex like she is crazy.  I know they are going to miss each other.  I hope they remain great friends throughout the years.  Thanks Jamie for taking such good care of my sweetpea!
