Abby meets Bubba

Saturday was the Reynolds and Reynolds Fun Run. I am hoping this is my last year to coordinate the event. Tracy came in 1st in the 5K for his age bracket and 2nd overall for the men. He ran even though he was still sick. I suprisingly with my slow time of 30 minutes came in 3rd in the 16-30 age bracket for the women 5K. Afterwards Tracy and I came home and played with Abby. I got out my old rocking chair from when I was little and decided to let her try it out. It was good because it has the arms that she was able to lean on.
That evening Tracy went to pick Austin up from the airport. He is here visiting on his Spring Break. Because his Christmas trip was cancelled, this was the first time he would meet his baby sister. On Sunday morning they got to meet:
Abby took to her big Bubba right away! She never fussed with him and was always staring. Austin wasn't so bad caring and playing with his little sister either!

Sick Baby = Sick Family

So Abby was sick and stayed home yesterday with Tracy. Luckily she was fine all day yesterday, but slept ALL day. I came home last night and ate with Tracy and went to play volleyball. When I got home....straight to the bathroom! Apparently I had the bug too. I finally quit my sickness around 5 this morning. I went in to work around 11ish to work on the Fun Run stuff for tomorrow and got a call from Tracy...he was on his way home because he was sick now! Goodness gracious and our family. Hopefully everything is okay with us and Tracy feels better by tomorrow. It seems to be a 12 hour bug as opposed to a 24 hour bug.

We have our annual company Fun Run tomorrow and I am the gal in charge. I was supposed to run the 5K, but we will have to see how I feel tomorrow. I don't know if Tracy will run either.

I will post pics from the Run later this weekend.

Sick Baby = Abby

Well we have avoided any sickness until now. We are not too sure what she has, but she has thrown up today (not just spit up) and had a couple of very questionable diapees! Jamie said she slept until 11 or so this morning and since I have picked her up she has been asleep. My poor little baby :(
In the above picture she has somehow manuevered around in her crib while sleeping. Below is right before I put her down. She seems okay (except for the throwing up and diapers) and is happy, but we will see how it goes.

The new Rascal!

Rascal recently got his long coat taken away. He looks more like a little schnauzer than a yorkie! They botched the ears a little, but Tracy is going to trim those this weekend. Over the past couple of weeks, Rascal has grown to like playing with Abby and when she sees him, she just gets a huge smile on her face.

Who can not like naked baby with fat rolls pictures?! The past week she has been trying to get on her knees and will get there but just rock back and forth and fall. Her little body is too heavy for her I think. Below is a picture of her trying to get up and then falling (I got it mid fall :) )
Yesterday afternoon I got off a little early. While daddy went for a bike ride, Abby and I went for a walk through our subdivision. She loves walking outside. She opted to take Mister 'Nannas (shhhhh don't tell Maurice!) and Mister 'Nannas decided to peepeye out of the stroller for a photo op!
She is getting to be such a big girl. Right now as I am typing this, she is rocking on her knees and Rascal is trying to give her kisses!

Maurice is skeptical

Today could have been the worst day of Maurice the Monkey's life.....a new monkey came into Abby's life. She named him Mister 'Nannas. You can see her above holding him while sitting in Daddy's lap. We didn't put Mister 'Nannas in the crib last night because we didn't want to introduce too much to Maurice :). How thoughtful are we lol?

The past 3 nights/days, Abby has really taken to sleeping on her stomach and she has slept the best in that time frame than any other time in the previous couple of months. It is 7:41 and she is still sleeping.

I am about to bring Rascal to the groomers. He will no longer have his winter coat but will be a new puppy! Here is a picture of Rascal now, and I will post one of Rascal after later.

Abby and the Potato Chips

The past few nights Abby has really taken to sleeping on her tummy lately. The past two nights she has only woke up once. Tracy checks to make sure she is breathing cause he worries. She is such a happy little bug when she wakes up. In the mornings when she is still asleep I will go in and turn her lamp on and she will stir and then pop her head up with a really big grin. I don't know where she gets that from cause her Dad and I are not happy campers when awoken :).
Tonight we had dinner and then I gave her some puffs. It is the first time that she has eaten one and not accidentally spit it back out. We gave her a baby mum mum (like puffs but a lot bigger so she can hold it easier) and she tried to put the whole thing in her mouth!

After this, she broke it in half and had both pieces in her hand...one in each and she stared at one hand and then the other ....not too sure which one she should go for first! After that she decided to drop them and focus on the chips. She is like her Momma...I can feel it! She is going to love potatoes, just you watch!
Almost got it, just a little closer!
Aha! I will get you chips yet!

6 months and counting!!

Abby turned 6 months last week and today was her 6 month checkup with Dr. Neal. He confirmed what we already knew.....our baby is chunky. She is still in the 95th percentile for her weight at 19.1 pounds. She shrunk :(. She is a little over 26 inches which drops her to the 60th percentile. Dr. Neal was calling her a chunky monkey. He was impressed that she was sitting on her own for awhile and putting such resistance on her legs when he stood her up. She kept flipping on the table and trying to eat the paper that was on it. The other day she got up on her knees but flopped down. Too much for her to pick up all her weight!
This weekend we have had the joy of meeting Mister Grisham. Here are a few pics of Abby and her Latino man!
Why won't the brown man hold my hand?

Hey....hey you...don't you know how to roll over too?!
I said get out of my photo op fool! There is only room for one star here!
They seemed to get along really well. This is her last night with him. She will get to see him again in a month when he moves back here permanently.

Memories of New Orleans

So below are some more pictures from our New Orleans trip. The first one is me and Tracy after the wedding. The second one shows my niece, Toni Tone Tony (band reference) with Abby while we were eating with the fam on Sunday. The last picture is my favorite. We were at Cracker Barrell in Sulphur, LA on our way back to Tejas and they have rocking chairs outside. Well, they happened to have a kid one so I sat Abby in it and she just chilled!

Yesterday Abby had a fussy day for her Brown Momma! Luckily today she seemed to have a good one. I love having Jamie watch Abby cause I get cool pics like the ones below. Abby and Alex are just too cute.
Crockpot is staying with us and Abby got to meet another latino friend, Grisham Anthony Garza. I will post pictures of the two before they leave. Abby just has tons of friends to play with it is so fun!
On Sunday I am riding in a 67 mile bicycle ride in Montgomery. We will see how prepared I am for the MS 150 after this is done. For the MS150 we have to ride approximately 90 miles in a day! Don't know if my butt is ready for it :)

New Orleans, Persians, & Green Beans

So I know it has been awhile since I wrote, so I am going to more than make up for it today! Abby has just grown so much it seems. She turns 6 months old this week. In the past few weeks she has gotten to where she wants to pick up her spoon and bottle herself. I gave her a spoon to play with while I was fixing dinner and she kept trying to put it in her mouth knowing it was usually filled with food! Below is my big girl trying to get her bottle from beside her Bumbo.

Last Wednesday, after work, Tracy, Abby and I left for Louisiana. We got to Baton Rouge around 10ish and stayed at my cousins house. Then on Thursday morning we got up early and left for New Orleans. Before leaving town Abby got to see her cousin, Lisa, when we stopped by her work. Lisa gave us the cutest little spring dress for Abby. It will be the perfect Easter dress. Then we were on to New Orleans. We spent the day walking around the French Quarter with Abby. She did so good and even took a nap while dad and I strolled the French Market.

Before we left New Orleans on Thursday we stopped by the hotel to see Rebecca and Parham (the soon to be bride and groom). Since they live in California, they had never officially met Abby. They were a little curious to see how Abby would react to Parham. They said 'white babies' generally do not like him. Well....Abby loved him. She was so mesmerized by him and his facial hair. We don't really hang around a lot of people that have facial hair so she just kept trying to touch it.
When we left New Orleans on Thursday, we went to Covington to my cousin Fran's house. Fran is so wonderful and watched Abby on Friday and Saturday for us.....this was why we decided to get to Covington early on Thursday so Abby could get used to Fran and her new surroundings. Tracy and I were really worried about Abby because she has had stranger anxiety lately. However, she seemed to LOVE Fran, which made it really easy on me.
The next morning Tracy and I said goodbye to Abby and Fran and headed back to New Orleans. This weekend was a blast. I have known Rebecca since Kindergarten. She was in our wedding and I was so excited for her and Parham and so happy to be a part of their special event. We had our rehearsal dinner at the Court of Two Sisters in the French Quarter and it was awesome. We got to see old friends and made new ones. We then had a lingerie shower for Becca and then Tracy and I went to Bourbon and ended the night at 3 am eating beignets and having cafe au lait at Cafe DuMonde. If you have never had beignets, well you have to love them....how could someone not like fried bread with tons of powdered sugar?!
Saturday was wedding day! They got married at the Columns Hotel on St. Charles street. It was a very neat affair. There were only about 60 of us at the wedding. It was a Christian/Persian infused wedding and it was so interesting to learn about a different custom.
We had a few hours before the reception so we had drinks in the hotel bar with a few of the wedding party peeps. Then it was on to the reception at the top of the World Trade Center on the river. The first thing we had to do was walk to the reception....it was way super windy! The reception had wonderful food and tons of dancing. Okay, I got my groove on to oldies that Becca and I loved when we were younger and who wouldn't get down to Can't Touch This?! I also tried my hand at Persian dancing. Parham's mom was a wonderful dancer. The reception ended at midnight and instead of going out, Tracy and I headed to the casino and then to the hotel for some shuteye.
When we got Abby the next morning, I was sooooooooooooooooooo missing her badly. I don't know if I was ready for 2 days away from her. When we got to Fran's, Abby just looked and smiled so big it made my heart melt. The cool thing about Sunday was that we got to Baton Rouge and met my dad, Lori (sister), Kevin (bro-in-law), Toni (niece), Christy (sis-in-law), Hailey (niece), Andrew (nephew) and Miss Bobbi for lunch at Zea's. It was the first time I saw Andrew since he was almost a month old (he will soon be 6 months). He was born a week and a half after Abby. Let's just say that Abby could beat her cousin up she is such a chunk! I will post pics of them when I get them downloaded.
We are back finally and go back to work tomorrow. Tonight we tried green beans for the first time and Abby ate a few bites, but did not seem to like them at all. I will try them again and if the same reaction I will start mixing stuff she likes with them.
